Let us tell you that on the night of Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Munawar Faruqui along with 13 people was detained by Mumbai Police during a raid on a hookah bar. Munawar's medical test was conducted, which came positive and action was taken against him. Mumbai Police said that Munawar Faruqui was released after further interrogation. However, no statement of any kind has come from Munawar Faruqui in this matter.

After being released, Munawar Faruqui shared a selfie on Instagram Stories, in which he is seen posing and smiling. In the close-up photo, he is seen standing inside a room wearing a blue T-shirt and cap. The comedian added the time stamp 04:55 on the photo, which was after his release. While sharing the story, he wrote, "Tired and traveling." With this, he geo-tagged the location as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai.

After this, a Mumbai Police officer issued a statement saying, "After getting statements information about the use of tobacco in the name of hookah, our team raided the hookah bar in Mumbai, after examining the things found there, a case was registered against them." Munawar Faruqui was also among those arrested. All those detained, including Munawar Faruqui, have reportedly been charged under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act as well as sections 283 (causing obstruction or danger to the public way or conveyance) of IPC, 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) A case has been registered under the Act).
